============================================================================================ Rain Bow, 10/10/03 by wolfman (R1) (R2) Map:120x120, Single Mission Campaign, Drop Weight Limit: 600 tons ============================================================================================ Move to a hidden camp harboring several Mobile Artillery Vehicles, a lot of resource buildings, fuel and ammunition supply. The objective is to capture all resource buildings and the Mobile Artillery. After that you should destroy the fuel depot and the ammo dumps. The camp is located in a river's bow and has a very sophisticated alarming system. Therefore the enemy feels very safe; the pilots are in their barracks and all medium and heavy Mechs are powered down. Right now a heavy thunderstorm moves through the area. The three options to cross the river are secured by Firemoth. Additionally the entire area is randomly patrolled by Firemoth what might disturb your activities heavily. To understand the alarm system is key to success because once the alarm is triggered the pilots will run out of their barracks and power-up their Mechs; powerplay is not promissing. First: there is a bunch of perimeter alarms installed in critical spots. If any unit comes closer than 800 meters it triggers an alarm; it might be a local alarm, that means only for the pilots close to that perimeter, but it could be the general alarm for the entire camp. To avoid the perimeter alarms to be activated you have to destroy them. Unfortunately are most of them guarded by light Mechs. Second: if the guarding Mechs sense an enemy Mech (!) they send an alarm signal to a relay station close by and trigger the general alarm. The transmission works only inside a limited range from the relay station. The relay station can be destroyed to avoid this type of alarm. It is important to know that the enemy Mechs can not even sense units other than Mechs or vehicles with their sensors; they depend on visual identification. That should enable us to break the alarm system using units like PowerArmor. Once an alarm is triggered you still have the option to eliminate the pilots running to their vehicles or Mechs but do not count on that. If the pilot is disabled the associated Mech can not be brought into battle. The pilots can be eliminated by destroying their barracks as long as the alarm is not triggered. Despite the fact that we have choosen the units for that mission wisely - it seems that the responsibility for the tactical command is a real challenge. ============================================================================================ (R1) designed for unofficial MC2 expansion pack wolfman-x.
